True words

Posted in Personal by justaroundme on December 2, 2009

Tomorrow, is my cousin’s first wedding anniversary. As any Indian wedding, hers was too full of glitter and fun.Though it was a traditional arranged,in which love is not the entry point to a marriage-the blush on her face, the subtle smile she wore on her lips every time she uttered her then to-be husband’s name, revealed that she was happy.

After the wedding, she is on a roller coaster ride. No,nothing like we see in the Indian movies or soaps, nothing that dramatic. It’s the challenges that life simply throws on us with respect to job, family and other priorities. And as a result, the difference of opinions becomes all inflated like a big balloon. In such testing situations, the self-doubt creeps in and starts to validate all the decisions made in the past.Such is her situation,i am sure she will be fine and things will get alright. In the mean time all i want from her is to hang in there..Happy Anniversary Sweety..wish you many more to come.

I always enjoyed his words and the below one on “Marriage” is so profound ..

You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.
