Masala talk:Movies,politics and whatever!

Posted in Random by justaroundme on May 13, 2010

Note:Thank you very much to all,who inquired about my absence.I am touched!.

1. All of a sudden, I got very conscious about my online identity. And was thinking – why should i blog in my pseudo name, Why not with my real name, why am i afraid and what is stopping me.Why is this anonymity feels more comfortable than the real identity.

2. Waiting for movie Ravanan (Tamil) and Ravana(Hindi) to release. Not an Ash fan,but a die-hard fan of Vikram.I am sure, he is not going to disappoint his fans.

3. Mani Ratnam,I am thinking more about him and his characters.Wish i could meet some of his profound characters in real life too.The Madhavan and Simran character of  Kannathil Muthamittal. The Mike character of Ayutha Ehuthu – a young and an idealistic man with profound thoughts.I am romanticizing this dream – the youth changing the face of Indian politics. The dream will come true, but I want to be alive during that time.

4. Another thought in the same line of politics.Have you ever thought about joining politics?.The youth stay away from politics because of sheer disgust and it is never even discussed as a career option. How confident are you about the state of future politics in India ?Wish I could have born during the time of Kamarajar, is it ever possible for Tamil Nadu to get such a politician again?. And I am simply sick of Karunanidhi.

5. The supreme court has quashed all the criminal cases filed against actress Khusboo for her remarks on pre-martial sex. This is a very late news,I saw this interview. She says a reporter could be DUMB,way to go lady.I simply loved watching it.Note:The interview is a mix of Tamil and English.

6. On my way to work this morning,I heard this episode in NPR.If an IIM aspiring guy is talking about the “certain limits/boundaries” for women and not getting the concept of giving his sister, the equal right to choose her own friends and simply holding on to the old patriarchal values, who will get the idea then?Don’t you think something is terribly missing here ?

I love the characters Mani Ratnam creates. They have so much depth and personality to them. Waiting to see Raavan too.

The youth in politics is a long shot, I feel. As you said, youngsters are so repelled by the whole political scene that it will be long before we see someone chose that path.

And the news about that guy aspiring for IIM – I don’t know what to say…how hard it’s going to be to change such mindsets.

And oh, I noticed and have been missing reading you too 🙂 Just too lazy to drop a line and ask what was up 😛 Hope all is well dear, welcome back!

Me too,was just lazy and also got bit busy with work.
      Long live Mani Ratnam…

I just saw that interview link. What a loser really that one reporter was, trying to twist and turn her words when she was being totally clear as to what she meant. Dumb, seriously. Liked the way she tackled him and made him shut up 🙂 Thanks for the link!

Oh ya..that one reporter was really dumb. Also, she handled other questions also very well – that one about “tamil” culture and also i like the way she said it is nobody’s business to preach a girl ‘the way she should live her life’ except her parents,i liked her confidence and the courage

I think it not about being afraid but vastness internet world is sure scary. whatever anonymity a virtual name gives fine with it. I think it drills down to individuals choice. Some people love being famous; sharing their lives openly and some don’t. I fall in later category.
Yes waiting for Ravana for Mani rathnam ; Ash and Abhishek too.

It is high time Karunanidhi should retire. Presence of youth is something I like about Congress. You are right when you say the youth is disgusted about it.

and glad you see updates from you. 🙂

Yes,you are right about the vastness of this internet world.

Ha,you Ash fan ?.I like her beauty but not her acting though. You should watch her Tamil movies….you will change your mind…

Retire,Karunanidhi?. .there is a gossip that his death wish is to die as a CM and so he would get a tomb in the Marina beach, chennai.Wish there could be law about the age limit and physical fitness rules for politicians…

Kushboo has set an example that many more people can follow. The cine field is not a woman friendly place. I recently read an internview of tamil actress Saranya who is questioning the rights and safety of women actress (more of character artistes, rather than heriones). Hope this trend would continue leading to more freedom and rights for women.

Mike in Mani Ratnam’s Ayutha Ezhathu is an inspiring character. A similar person in real life would have met with success, during the days of Kamarajar. Doubtful what his fate would be if he were to live amidst current day politicians 🙂

But I am tad bit disappointed with Khusboo now, as she has joined or planning to join DMK – the old man’s party. However as you said, wish many more would follow her in speaking their minds.

And very true..no Mike can survive in present day politics. That makes me real sad and bit anxious too.Recently was reading an article about how the present CM’s family is almost ruling TN in terms of politics and media. And the most pathetic situation is that the other party is also not good either.
I remember seeing a video in Youtube and this was the time when actress Revathi had contested in some election and she lost.So basically, she was requesting the people

      1. To vote ,first.
      2. To look for independent candidates (she contested as an independent candidate) as this group may have a better outlook and attitude.

Love the characters of Mani Ratnam. I also like how he makes his women characters strong and not just the running-around trees/ damsel in distress type, which so many do 🙂

Gone missing again? 🙂 Hope all is well. Take care.

Very true… Unfortunately the place I live is the venue for World Classical tamil Conference. The result being it stands as a silent witness to wrong governance and hasty development. Hope people who concentrate on creating alternatives are more successful.
